At first glance, this clock appears to be a simple beehive clock, but a closer look reveals a special piece. Made by Brewster & Ingrahams about 1844 -1845, this round gothic shelf clock is powered by a rare transitional movement, used for only a short time. It is an 8 day clock with full brass backplate, but with the earlier rack & snail strike form.  Soon after B&I adopted the countwheel strike stystem. It also sports a rarely seen convex wood dial in great condition with a crisp signature. Also of note is the figured mohogany case in mint condition. Note the matched burl figure on each side of the clock flanking the tablet. Original floral themed cut and acid etched tablet is perfect. Upper glass is original too. Both hands are original, the minute with a small repair. The repeating 8 day movement has been serviced and is running well.  PLEASE INQUIRE
